NSAI Honors Mike Reid & Gary Burr

UMPG Catalog writers Mike Reid and Gary Burr are two of the newest additions to the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. They were inducted Sunday, Oct. 15th, during annual ceremonies conducted by the Nashville Songwriters Foundation at the Renaissance Hotel in Nashville.

Mike Reid has penned 11 number one songs. His songs have been recorded by artists such as Ronnie Milsap, Marie Osmond, Tanya Tucker, Conway Twitty, Tim McGraw, Collin Raye, Willie Nelson, Wynonna, Alabama, Don Williams and Kenny Rogers to name a few. One of Mike’s most notable hits is “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raitt.

Gary Burr had his first #1 song in 1982 when Juice Newton took “Love’s Been A Little Bit Hard On Me” to the top of the charts. It wasn’t long after when Burr was dominating the charts with hits by Faith Hill, Patty Loveless, Garth Brooks, LeAnn Rimes, Randy Travis, Collin Raye, Ricky Martin, Christina Aguilera and the early Tim McGraw classic “Can’t Be Really Gone.”
