UNIVERSAL MUSIC PUBLISHING GROUP – NASHVILLE SIGNS SINGER/SONGWRITER JOSH TURNER

UNIVERSAL MUSIC PUBLISHING GROUP – NASHVILLE SIGNS MULTI-PLATINUM, No. 1 SINGER/SONGWRITER, CMA BEST MALE VOCALIST NOMINEE JOSH TURNER TO EXCLUSIVE PUBLISHING DEAL

Nashville, TN (November 29, 2007) David Renzer, Chairman & CEO, Universal Music Publishing Group and Pat Higdon, Executive VP/General Manager, Universal Music Publishing Group – Nashville today announced the signing of multi-platinum singer/songwriter Josh Turner to an exclusive, world-wide publishing agreement. Turner burst onto the country music scene in 2003 with his No. 1, Platinum album Long Black Train (MCA Nashville). The album quickly went No. 1 on Billboard Top Heatseakers and No. 3 on Billboard Top Country Albums chart. His follow-up album, the 2X Platinum Your Man (MCA Nashville) received much critical acclaim, propelled by two consecutive, multi-week No. 1 singles, “Your Man” and “Would You Go With Me.” The album also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Albums chart and No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and Top Internet Albums charts. Your Man was one of only four country albums to reach multi-platinum status in 2006. Josh Turner recently released his third studio album on MCA Nashville, Everything is Fine which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 84,000 copies in the first week. The lead-off single “Firecracker” was Turner’s fastest climbing single to date.

Josh Turner is also continuously heralded by critics as one of the brightest young stars in country music today and his voice has been compared to the legendary Johnny Cash. This status is marked by his recent invitation to be one the youngest members of the famed Grand Ole Opry. Turner was formally inducted by one of his Idols, Vince Gill, on October 27, 2007.

Turner has also received two GRAMMY nods (Best Male Vocal Performance and Best Country Album) and was recently nominated for the prestigious Best Male Vocalist at the 2007 Country Music Association awards.

Pat Higdon states, “Josh is one of the brightest young stars to emerge in our market in many years. He is not only a great performer but also a wonderful songwriter. He is an artist that will continue to make an impact in country music for years to come. We are honored he chose to have Universal Music Publishing Group to represent his song catalogue.”

Josh Turner is among the impressive names in UMPG Nashville’s catalog, which includes the works of such artists as: Rivers Rutherford, Ed Hill, David Lee, Mel Tillis, Bob McDill, Kostas, Gary Burr, and Troy Verges among many others. For more information, visit: www.umpgnashville.com.
